The Aloha State Association of the Deaf (ASAD) believes in the full capacity, potential, and possibilities of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.
Being Deaf or Hard of Hearing does not define who you are or determine what you can accomplish. Too often, it is barriers created by systems, policies, communication gaps, and misconceptions that stand in the way.
ASAD works to raise expectations, challenge barriers, and create opportunities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to live, work, learn, lead, and thrive.
We believe in Deaf and Hard of Hearing people because we are the people. Together, our voices, experiences, diversity, and determination can influence change and help build a future where Deaf and Hard of Hearing people have the access, opportunities, and support to pursue the lives they want.
ASAD brings Deaf and Hard of Hearing people together to build connections, share information, support one another, and advocate for greater access and opportunities throughout Hawaiʻi.
As an ASAD member, you can:
Connect with local and nationwide networks of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people who can share information, resources, and support.
Work alongside other Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to challenge misconceptions and advocate for policies and laws that affect our community.
Meet and build friendships with people who share your profession, hobbies, interests, or goals.
Add your voice to efforts that help create a more accessible and inclusive Hawaiʻi.
